The Story
The Orchid Midi Dress is a wrap bodice with a midi length skirt. View A has ruffle sleeves. View B has long sleeves with a gathered cap and wrist. There is a combination of elastic and drawstring to define the waist and add drape to the bodice.
Skill level: Intermediate
Size Range: 0-30, with 2 bust cup options
Recommended Fabric:
Rayon, cotton lawn, voile, linen, and double gauze.
This style is designed for a light to medium-weight woven fabric with a nice drape. View A is best suited to Rayon Challis or Rayon Crepe to allow the ruffle sleeves to drape. A minimum fabric width of 45" (115cm) is required.
Minimum fabric requirements are listed. If you think you will need more for shrinkage, directional print, pattern matching or print repeat, please purchase accordingly.
Materials Needed:
- 1/2 yd of lining fabric for pocket bags
- 1 x Matching thread
- 1 yd lightweight fusible interfacing
- 1 yd of 1/2" elastic
- 3/4 yd of 3/8" elastic for View B
- Optional: Safety pin or turning tool, hidden snap
