Needle felting is an incredibly therapeutic craft and it is really easy to learn the basics. You get the wool into the shape you want such as a ball, then you stab it multiple times with the barbed needles. The needles push the fibers together felting them into place and creating a solid piece. You can then add details and join pieces together all using the felting needles (no sewing!) It sounds like magic but it really works!
