The Story

The Fowler Jacket is a utilitarian and gender-neutral dream, giving you two distinct outerwear styles in one pattern; choose between a cozy quilted jacket and a workwear-inspired barn coat.

Perfect for layering, Fowler is roomy and oversized with a boxy shape and a dropped shoulder, and features a two-piece sleeve and bandless collar. Finished with your choice of button or snap closure, Fowler is a comfortable, country-inspired jacket destined for long walks and endless customization.

  • View A is a classic barn coat with double-layered patch pockets and a single breast pocket. It is finished with a sleeve hem facing, topstitched seams, and a traditional pressed hem.
  • View B is a quilted jacket with rounded patch pockets. It is finished with double-fold bias tape along all edges and hems.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Sizes: XXS-6XL

SUGGESTED FABRIC

VIEW A - BARN COAT

  • Mid- to heavyweight non-stretch wovens with structure, such as canvas, twill, denim, corduroy, or wool.

VIEW B - QUILTED JACKET

  • For a quick and easy make, choose a prequilted fabric or a substantial jacquard, brocade, or similarly beefy fabric that holds its shape without a batting layer.

To create a quilted jacket:

  • Outer and inner layer − light- to midweight woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, lawn, voile, chambray and broadcloth, or linen. Drapey fabrics are not recommended.
  • Middle batting layer − quilt batting in cotton, bamboo, or wool.
